Powder & Bulk Solids Editor'sSpotlight 22 J u n e 2 0 1 8 • Screening, Classifying, & Separation Gyratory Sifter The Atlas gyratory sifter offers high-capacity screening in a low-maintenance, operator-friendly design. The horizontal, uniform gyratory motion of the Atlas provides high perfor- mance per screen area, which means sharper separations, higher volume, excellent screen cleaning, low dynamic force, and high material spread-ability. Ideal for a wide range of industries including, but not limited to chemical, food, plastics, agriculture and minerals, the Atlas is avail- able in 33 versatile configurations with up to 12 screens, ranging from 32 to 792 sq ft of screening area. Engineered for maximum uptime and ease of use, each model incor- porates a lubricated for life drive system and basket hang- ers. Additionally, each ATLAS model integrates patented QuickChange technology that allows for one-minute screen changes. The screen changes can be performed from either the feed or the discharge end of the machine. Sweco, Florence, KY 859-283-8400 www.sweco.com Fine Mesh Vibratory Screeners with Ultrasonics HK Technologies' HKC Series provides a three-dimen- sional motion that allows for greater throughput of difficult-to-screen products. Utilizing the optional ul- trasonic deblinding system can additionally increase throughput and product yield by virtually eliminating screen blinding, reducing screening time of very fine materials such as diamond dust from hours to minutes. The ultrasonic transducer design allows for 100% utiliza- tion of the screen surface. Its ultra-low-profile design al- lows minimum space consumption, making it possible to fit in tight spots between storage and process equipment. Used for difficult-to-screen applications down to 20 mi- crons, its intended install is above or below bulk storage vessels, bulk bag or drum unloaders, blenders, mixers, and other process equipment. Screen frame sizes in 17, 24, 30, 36, and 48 in. Cleveland Vibrator Co., Cleveland, OH 216-241-7157 www.clevelandvibrator.com Photo Etched Screens and Filters Tech-Etch photo etches custom screens, filters, and filter supports for many diverse uses, including hydraulic valve screens, laser light filters, fuel filters, extruding screens, particle separation, and sizing. Photo etching enables designers to specify a straight hole or a tapered hole, which facilitates liquid filtration and back flow cleaning. Hole sizes range from .003 in. and up. Unlike stamping, photo etching yields a burr-free product resulting in cleaner, more efficient screens with greater material integrity. Photo-etched screens feature a tighter toler- ance on hole sizes and greater dimensional stability than woven wire mesh, making them ideal in applications requiring frequent cleaning or in devices where there is mechanical contact. Unlike woven wire mesh screens, the fixed photo etched openings will not change through use. Tech-Etch Inc., Plymouth, MA 508-747-0300 www.tech-etch.com Centrifugal Screener Cleans Fast The Centri-Sifter high-capacity centrifugal screener features a cantilevered shaft with two externally-mounted bearings between the screening chamber and motor drive (no bearing on the hinged end plate) al- lowing all components to slide freely from the shaft end for rapid cleaning, screen changes, or inspection. The combination of a large diameter shaft with wide spac- ing between the bearings, and a flexible shaft coupling, prevents vibration even at high speeds under heavy, imbalanced loads. Available to USDA, FDA, BISSC, 3-A, and other U.S. and European sanitary standards, it is suitable for food, dairy, and pharmaceutical applications requir- ing quick, thorough washdown, as well as industrial applications requiring frequent screen changes or material changeovers. It is available configured for gravity-fed applications or continuous operation in- line with dilute-phase pneumatic convey- ing systems. In addition to sifting of dry materials, the screener can reduce soft agglomerates and/or dewater moist solids or slurries. Kason Corp., Millburn, NJ 973-467-8140 www.kason.com Dairy Processing Screener The new Rotex dairy processing screener is designed and engi- neered for effective performance by maximizing both product quality and yield. The dairy processing unit is the result of years of design iterations to create a sanitary design passing all USDA design requirements for the dairy industry. The use of a USDA specific quality control plan and meticulous manufacturing processes permit Rotex Global the ability to manufacture to stringent USDA standards. With the dairy pro- cessing screener your plant will achieve higher capacities in a single unit, finer separations, no material blinding, and easier clean outs to eliminate contamination during product changeover.
