45 www.packagingdigest.com FALL 2016 // NEW TECHNOLOGY new products Pack Expo Liquid beverage fillers The Fogg carbonated filler starts by rinsing 12-oz/355ml glass beer bottles with air before filling them at a rate of approximately 25 to 40 bottles per minute. It will cap the bottles with a metal crown cap that has been sorted by the attached automatic vibrating hopper. At the show, Fogg will also be showcasing Sundance Beverage's new hot-fill machine, which has 42 filling valves and 14 capping heads. Whitfield's new F9 hot fill machine will also be on display that features a 9-foot filling bowl, 84 Tri-line Quick Start 3000 filling valves and a 28-head capper with a dual cap chute and dual J chute for faster changeover. Additionally, Fogg has a cap sorter in Pharma Expo Booth W-1013. Fogg Filler, www.foggfiller.com Pack Expo booth S-1718 Spiral conveyors Conveying small loads on a packaging line can be problematic because there's not much surface to keep them stable. Two new versions of the Narrow Trak spiral conveyor address this challenge by reliably transporting small packages (cartons or containers) in a single file or in a continuous mass flow at speeds in excess of 200 feet per minute. These new vertical conveyors come with 6- and 9-inch wide nesting slats, which provide a flat conveying surface without gaps to ensure smooth end- or side-transfers. And unlike other conveyors that use side grippers to transport packages at high speeds, the Narrow Trak systems don't require time-consuming adjustments to run different sizes. Additionally, the company's proprietary low-friction chain slat design helps reduce maintenance needs, keeping uptime high for high-throughput packaging lines in the food, beverage, personal care and pharmaceutical/nutraceutical markets. Super-compact, the spirals save valuable floor space. For example, units with 6-inch wide slats measure just 4-feet 3-inches in their outside diameter.
