P harmapack Europe will be held February 10–11, 2016, at the Paris Expo, Porte de Versailles. The two-day event highlights innovations in pharmaceutical packaging and drug delivery. There's much news to share on these markets, which are growing significantly: global demand for phar- ma packaging, for instance, is expected to grow 6.5% each year to reach more than $100 billion in 2019, reports research firm Freedonia Group. And the firm points out drug delivery is "the fastest expanding group of dis- posable medical supplies," expected to reach $13.4 billion in 2018 in the United States, thanks to "minimally invasive delivery of parenteral medi- cines, inhalation therapies," and more. Pharmapack Europe exhibitors will highlight their solutions as they show- case packaging materials, containers, services, equipment, drug-delivery devices, and more. Two full days of conference sessions will examine a number of industry chal- lenges and promising solutions. (Please see below for the complete conference schedule.) A day-long workshop will cover serialization and track and trace, while a morning workshop will examine trends in combination products. There will also be free Learning Labs through- out the two days for more educational opportunities. The Pharmapack Europe 2016 Awards will be announced during the conference. The annual program cel- ebrates recently launched product inno- vations that contributed significantly to the industry. Eligible products must have launched in the European mar- ket between March 2015 and January 2016. According to event organizers, winners must have significantly contrib- uted to the proper use of medication or increased patient or user compliance or sustainability in packaging. Entries will be evaluated by a jury panel of independent doctors and pharmacists, headed by Pr Philippe Arnaud, Phar- macist, Service Chief of the Bichat- Claude Bernard AP-HP hospital and ANSM expert. In 2015, winners included a safety syringe system by Credence MedSystems, DataPen by BioCorp., a tamper-evident folding box by IGB Industrie Grafischebres- san, Press & Take by Stiplastics, Rebi- Smart by Merck Serono, Wallet Blister by Pierre Fabre Medicament and Cin- fa Laboratories, and the EasyBox by Teva Laboratories.
