We produce high barrier fi lms made of COC fi lm, and laminates containing PCTFE (Aclar ® ) at multiple sites. Aclar ® is a registered trademark of Honeywell. Through its Tekni-Films business, Tekni-Plex also supplies PVC/PVdC-coated fi lms, polypropylene fi lms, complemented by a variety of blister lidding materials, and custom- made pouch structures, both printed and unprinted. Tri-Seal supplies the pharmaceutical bottle segment with a wide range of one- and two- piece closure liners for any conceivable application, including induction heat-seal types, extruded foamed and solid sheet, pressure sensitive, and oxygen scavenging liners. RECENT DEVELOPMENTS • Tekni-Plex has developed a PVC-free sustainable blister fi lm solution available as PX ™ or PXA ™ . PX ™ is monolayer co-polyester, serving as an alternative to mono PVC for packaging applications that do not require specifi c barrier properties. PXA ™ is a laminate of co-polyester and PCTFE fi lms (Aclar ® ) for blister packaging applications that require protection against moisture ingress or egress. The af ordable materials are available in all standard thicknesses and combinations, and run well as a drop-in solution on all form-fi ll-seal equipment, including high-speed lines. • Tekni-Plex has also introduced Barex replacement fi lm structures that serve a wide range of barrier requirements to support the market transition from Barex material. • Tekni-Films will begin commercial manufacturing late this summer in the new Holland OH operation adjacent to our Global Technology Center. This new manufacturing site will be producing a wide range of laminated pharma fi lms and medical packaging servicing the fl exible healthcare packaging market. • The recent acquisition of Gallazzi in Europe has further enhanced the PVC and PVdC fi lm capabilities to service the global market • Tekni-Plex is currently upgrading and expanding the manufacturing infrastructure at its facility in Flemington, NJ. The 18-month project will further enhance technology and increase capacity at the plant, which primarily produces multi-layer fl exible packaging structures for a large range of heat-seal and pressure-sensitive closure liners, as well as lidding foils for pharmaceutical blister packs, medical device packaging and pouch materials. • Tri-Seal, a Tekni-Plex company, introduced a high-temperature wax technology designed to bolster the stability of two-piece induction seals for containers stored or distributed in challenging high-temperature conditions. The solution is specifi cally engineered to reduce costly (and potentially dangerous) seal-related product leakage from packaging closures. The proprietary wax technology can withstand higher temperature environments to greatly reduce the potential for seal integrity curling. • Tekni-Plex Belgium invested in a state-of-the-art low-density foam extrusion line with an in-line lamination unit. This enables Tekni-Plex to produce low-density EPE foams and foams laminated with dif erent fi lms (oxygen barrier, water vapor barrier and chemical barrier fi lms). This investment complements the existing co-extruded Tri-Seal F-217 foamed series, non- foamed thermoplastic elastomers and pharmaceutical rubber grades.
