In their uncured state, these adhesives are blue to facilitate verification of placement; but as they cure with exposure to ultraviolet light, they become colourless, signalling clearly that they are fully cured and the bond site is secure. They fluoresce bright red under low-intensity 365-nm black light, contrasting well with plastics that naturally fluoresce blue. This property allows manufacturers to incorporate either an automated or manual quality inspection process into the production line to verify complete and accurate placement of the adhesive after curing.
