[ New Products ] June 2014 • Tube News 13 Tube Filler A tube filler offers a high-capacity integrated ergonomic tube loader, with no change-over required and excellent acces- sibility to each side of the machine. The 2060 Unipac Tube Filling System allows special shape closures in a minimized closing area without limiting tube filling quantity. Features include an easy to replace upper head; quick size change over; lightweight, easy to disassemble dosing pump; servo driven dosing pump and diving nozzle (upon request); and different sealing technologies depending on tube materials (AL, PE/ LAM tubes). Romaco North America (N.A.), a subsid- iary of Romaco Group, www.romaco.com. Dropper Tube A metered dropper tube for pharmaceutical liquid applica- tions offers a choice of three closures: • Dropper and Miniwing cap with handy reinforcements. Because consumers often have difficulty gripping and opening small tubes, the company developed an ergonomic cap that in addition to fluting also has small reinforcements to ease cap gripping and turning. As the cap is being turned, the force used is transmitted to the cap and to opening the tube. • Dropper and child-resistant nozzle cap. According to the company, the smallest certified child-resistant nozzle cap will soon be applied to the dropper tube. To open it, users need to press on the cap while simultaneously turning it, making it difficult for children to access the medicines themselves. • Dropper and nozzle cap with tamper evidence. A nozzle cap with a pull-off ring can reveal whether a dropper solution has been opened. They have long been used with ophthalmic creams and are also ideally suited to liquid applications. The Polyfoil dropper tube is available for 1–30 ml contents, in diameters of 10 mm, 13.5 mm, 16 mm, 19 mm, and 25 mm. Samples with a cap of choice are available for first- opening tests. The company produces premium packaging out of metal and plastics at three premises: Tins at Hoffmann in Thun; Polyfoil, CoEx, and plastic tubes at Neopac in Oberdiessbach and at TU-PLAST in Debrecen (Hungary). Described by the company as safe and easy to use, the DuoDispersion System Tandem Ampoule can be customized to hold small-volume, dual-product medicines; each individual formula is hermetically sealed in its own container. The DuoDispersion Sys- tem can hold a combined volume of 1.2 ml kept sepa- rate until the point of application. Two versions of DuoDispersion are available: a swab for topical appli- cations, and a dropper for diagnostic uses. James Alexander Corp., www.james-alexander.com.
