emdt.co.uk European Medical Device Technology Spring 2014 | 53 show preview: MEDTEC EuropE Image: W ith a comprehensive exhibitor programme and a vari- ety of engaging educational opportunities, MEDTEC Europe is bolstering its claim as the leading trade fair for the medical technology supplier industry. The latest trends and developments will be in the spotlight from 3 to 5 June spread across an area of more than 36,000 m 2 . Up to 900 suppliers and service providers will be exhibiting their innovations and services at this year's MEDTEC Europe event in Stuttgart. The central theme is innovative materials as well as prod- uct development and production processes. Specialists in areas ranging from medical automation to clean- room technology to materials and packaging will be exhibiting. Evonik, for example, will showcase customised plastics for the medical technology industry, such as biodegradable polymers for orthopaedic applications. Injection moulding company Arburg will display the manufacture of syringe bodies. Concept Laser will highlight a generative metal laser fusion process for creating com- ponents from powdered metals layer by layer using 3-D CAD data. Innovative start-ups will exhibit their ideas for the first time in the i-Zone. In addition, the show floor will feature a matchmaking area for business contacts and a networking area for interdiscipli- nary exchange between experts, industry representatives and all interested parties. In the MEDTEC conference, an array of experts will discuss trends, such as advancements in prototyping, quality systems and production processes, as well as regulatory reform. "The industry is on the move," says Fabienne Valambras, organiser of MEDTEC Europe. "While regulatory authorities are setting stricter and stricter requirements, component suppliers are providing new solu- tions to current and future challenges. Anyone who wants to find out about the latest developments will find answers in Stuttgart."
