[ Feature ] Runner-Up: Tom's of Maine Silly Strawberry by Essel Propack For Tom's of Maine Silly Strawberry, Essel Propack America delivered a tube constructed of a new generation plastic barrier laminate (PBL) with an EVOH barrier to lock in the strawberry flavor, reports Wendi Caraballo, marketing manager, Essel Propack America. "It takes a special inner lined barrier (IBL) to ensure flavor retention, which is extremely important to the customer." Ted Sojourner, Regional Vice President, adds that the PBL provides 'bounce back.' The tube features an oriented cap in a volcano style to ensure small dispensability on the child's toothbrush and a top seal to help maintain the strawberry flavor of the toothpaste, Caraballo adds. Says Sojourner: "This cap features an orifice that makes it easier to dispense product, allowing it to be more directional. It also features a flip top for ease of use." Essel used its patented high-definition printing technique called Elite Printing to reproduce almost-photorealistic strawberries on this tube, reports Caraballo. "The strawberry vignettes don't get filled in with the patented HD printing technology, so they maintain their exact likeness on each tube," she says.
